Micro-Loans
Catalyst for Change
We have begun a micro-credit program with all of our communities that work with us on a weekly basis. Many of our neighbors have dreams that are subverted by poverty. MGK’s micro-credit program attempts to answer this problem by offering three types of loans: Education, Housing, and Business.
After a community has worked with MGK’s program of sanitation, each member is able to apply for a loan. Our community development team assists each member in choosing the type of loan, writing a letter of request and educating them on basic principles of loan management. After the loan is approved, the loans are distributed to the group and managed by the group.
By receiving small amounts of capital, people can be empowered to make their ideas a reality. MGK loans can be given to parents who want their children to go to high school, improvements in housing such as bed nets or refurbishing a roof, to small business loans such as brick-making, stores and animal husbandry.
